I have taken private art classes with Marilyn for over 5 years now. I come from a family of artists and wanted to find out if I had any talent. Marilyn helped me find the inspiration within me. I found out that I could see objects in different ways and learn how to put that on paper. I learned how to relax my brain and to think in new and abstract ways. I love taking on new challenges and taking pride in my work when I hang the finished product on the wall. My art lessons with Marilyn have given me a new passion and I intend to continue learning with her. — Brad G.
I started taking art classes with Marilyn. Being that I wasn’t the greatest student in grade school, my time spent with Marilyn was truly an exploration into a world where I not only excelled but felt like I belonged. As a young artist, Marilyn introduced to me a wide variety of mediums of which past artists have used. I believe that this foundation set the stage for me to start exploring into all types of mediums in order to produce my visions and ideas. When it was time to start applying for college, I knew a regular liberal arts college would not cut it for me. I decided to apply to various design and arts schools to further my education. At this point, I switched to private lessons with Marilyn in order to work on my portfolio. She helped me put together the portfolio I needed to be accepted to the various programs I was applying to. I learned the importance of drawing from real life, the way I see the world and ultimately putting those visions on paper. When I was accepted to almost all the programs I applied to, I felt success for the first time in my life. I decided to go to Parsons School of Design where I studied product design and furniture design and my life began. Today I run my own business doing furniture design and custom furniture. Thank you, Marilyn, for helping me become all I can be, and more! — Dani Faber

We met Marilyn a few months ago and that’s when my then 7-year-old daughter Sophia started working with her. We always felt that Sophia was very artistic and talented but since Marilyn started teaching her she just improved so much. Not just her art pieces got nicer and deeper but also she started doing it the right way. It is also so adorable when my little Sophia uses art terminology when she describes her artwork. Sophia loves Marilyn and her classes. The minute she finishes her class she starts talking about the plan for the next week, and she gets so excited about what is to come during the next session. Sophia’s dream is to meet Marilyn in person in her studio and to look at all her artwork that she has been peeking at during their Zoom meetings for the past few months. I just want to say that we feel so lucky to have met Marilyn because her personality, knowledge and experience bring up the best in Sophia, and she surely encourages our daughter to push herself forward to become the artist she wants to be. — Iryna R.

For the past six years that my sister and I have been taking private art classes with Marilyn, she has also become a beloved mentor to us. Marilyn is a great artist and I have learned many things from her. I remember a lesson from my earlier years when we were covering our pastel carrot with saran wrap and I remember being so proud and excited to show it to my mom. I can say that hasn’t changed. I think that spending almost half my life attending these art lessons really helped me to be hard working and driven. It has helped me realize that if I work hard for what I want, I can get it! — Sydney, Age 13
Marilyn has always been a great support and encourages me. I must confess that there have been some days when I’m tired and don’t get much accomplished but Marilyn is always there to talk and laugh with. I have countless drawings and paintings that I am very proud of and it’s all thanks to Marilyn. Not just through art has she influenced me, she has a great outlook on life. I’m glad that she is such a big part of my life. Although, I don’t want o pursue a career in art, I have very fond memories throughout these years and hopefully there will be more to come. — Sydney I., Age 13
I have known Marilyn for about six years. In those six years I learned lots, including pointillism shading and so much. But, I learned from her also about eating right, caring for my sister, being more understanding. Marilyn has been more than a teacher to me. She has been a counselor, a guide and also my friend. I look back on those six years and all I’ve learned and can’t wait for the many more years to come! — Drew, Age 11
